The WISE Carriageless Lapper is an economical alternative to conventional cross-lappers at a fraction of the price. The low maintenance design means less down-time and it's quality lap produces an exceptional end product.

It is designed to take the non-woven fiber web from a card/garnett and make a quality, high speed lap onto a floor apron at the desired laydown width and thickness.

Material from the card/garnett is conveyed to the top of the lapper on an incline apron. It is then transferred down to a floor apron captured between a pair of aprons that rotate on a pivot shaft. This back and forth motion creates a lapping effect of the non-woven web as it reaches the moving floor apron below. The swing aprons transverse by means of a single, large bore air cylinder. The stroke of this cylinder determines the width of the laydown. The lap is controlled by a programmable counter, but can be fine tuned by adjusting air supply pressure, exhaust flow controls or apron speed. Laydown widths up to 60" can be obtained and speeds up to 250 feet per minute.

The main frame of the lapper is made of laser cut, heavy steel plate, structural steel channel and steel angle. The swing apron frame is constructed of weight saving aluminum and is counter-weighted for a smooth lapping motion. The main drive source for the aprons is a variable speed DC motor and gearbox combination, optional AC inverter or mechanically variable speed AC drive motor.
